Roof Tiles
Roof tiles are made from a variety of materials such as concrete, clay and terracotta, and also come in a variety of colours, however all roof tiles doe the same thing - cover roof tops to ensure they provide water and windproof surfaces.
A roof tiler is trained to correctly lay down roof tiles and will mark out the roof for tiling, spread over adhesives to secure the roof tiles and lay down the tiles evenly while applying any protective coats the roof tiles may need.
There are a range of roof tile styles such as imbrex and tegula tiles - they form a pattern of curved and flat tiles to form rain channels on the roof. You can also purchase flat tiles, which are quite popular and are also used a lot and are laid in overlapping rows.
What is Roofing
Roofing means the process of roofing surfaces such as tiles, as well as the roofing materials used to do the job.
Roofing Tiles
Roofing tiles that are popular include flat tiles, which are laid on the roof in an overlapping pattern, and imbrex and tegula tiles, which are a combination of curved and flat tiles that form to make rain paths on the roof.
The other types of roofing tiles you can use include Roman tiles. These tiles are flat in the middle and have a concave curve at one side and a concave at the other. This enables them to interlock with one another when placed next to each other.
Roofing follows the process of marking out the roof to be tiled, spreading the necessary adhesive over the roof, evenly laying down the tiles, followed by applying protective coats to the tiles if needed.
Roofing materials
Roofing materials can include anything from materials that cover your roof to materials that protect roof tiles, or even decorative finishes.
Some of the main roofing materials to are tiles made from slate, ceramic, metal and polycarbonate. You may also wish to use roofing materials such paint for decorative purposes or even energy panels to help aid efficiency of energy.
