Roofers have been specially trained to lay down roof tiles on any sort of structure. Roofers have been trained to lay roof tiles on anything from a house to an office, large commercial site, retail site, heritage-listed building or corporate building.

In addition, roofers are able to lay down tiles from a range of different materials including slate, terracotta and clay.

Roofers main job description is to prepare a roof by cleaning it and spreading it with adhesive ready for tiling. Roofers will then tile the roof, making sure the tiles are laid down evenly by using measuring devices such as a level. Roofers will then apply any protective coats or other finishes that the tiles may need and leave the newly tiled roof to dry.

To do their job properly, roofers need to be fit, have good hand-eye coordination due to the high level of manual labour involved, as well as good balance due to undertaking the work off solid ground.

There are many different types of tiles that roofers can use. Mostly used are flat tiles, which are laid down by roofers in overlapping rows. Imbrex and tegula tiles are also popular. These tiles form rain channels on a roof and form a pattern of curved and flat shaped tiles. Please use our search option to find out more information about roofers, roofers products and services.
